Why does love sell?
People often ask me “why are you such a romantic?” or “why do you believe in love so much?”. If you’ve read my previous article ‘What is love?’, you’ll understand why. And for those who haven’t, well, tune in, because I’m about to tell you why love is the most valuable thing you own, and how it can be used to transform your business/product or film.
The one thing we all share in common is love. We all want love, we all want to feel seen, enough, and alive. Everything that we do is a reflection of how our heart feels. How it feels about the world, each other and ourselves.
What I see with a lot of companies and brands these days is that they try to sell their business, their product as an image. They post pictures or videos of what it looks like, what it WILL look like when you try it on, when you buy it, drink it, eat it. But we all know that images, especially ones that have no feeling to it, can be deceiving, they often don’t look or resemble the real thing.
We end up spending ridiculous amounts of money on these images because the world tells us that it matters. That you will be happy once you buy that dress or that really pretty cocktail.
It’s rubbish.
Images don’t buy you happiness, worth or value — experiences do.
Experiences are linked to feelings. How we feel when we go out dancing! How we feel when we kiss the person we love. At the end of the day people want to feel connected, valued and loved.
Now this doesn’t mean manipulate people into buying an illusion of how they could feel. It’s about offering truth. And the truth is — life is messy, chaotic, imperfect. It’s a constant journey of transformation.
What I want to do through storytelling, is give people a way to return to themselves through all that. To feel that it’s okay to be human — to feel everything. That’s the beauty of it. And that brings us back to the big question: Why does love sell?
Love is universal - Love is the one emotion that connects every human being — no matter their age, culture, or background. Everyone wants to feel seen, heard, connected, and present. When you offer that through a story, product, or experience, you give people something far deeper than a transaction — you give them peace.
The Romantic - We’re all romantics, don’t tell me you’re not because you are. We all want that kiss under the moonlight, that dance in the rain. Love stories let people experience that magic — they remind us of what it feels like to be alive. People don’t buy products; they buy feelings. And love is the feeling everyone wants.
Real love is honest, not perfect - Love sells when it’s truthful — when it reflects the messy, vulnerable, and transformative parts of being human. That kind of love makes people feel less alone, and that’s the most powerful thing a brand or storyteller can do: make someone feel understood.
Love goes beyond romance - Love isn’t just about relationships — it’s in art, music, food, friendship, culture, and the way we see the world. When we romanticise everyday life, we give people permission to slow down, to see beauty, to hope again. Love becomes not just a theme, but a lens for how we experience life.
Love creates belonging - In a world that often sells insecurity, love offers acceptance. It tells people: you are enough, just as you are. That message doesn’t just attract attention — it builds trust, loyalty, and emotional connection that lasts.
So, if you want to bring these truths to life — whether through your business, film, or brand — send me an email. I’ll make it my mission to help you tell stories that make people feel.
And if you’re a hopeless romantic like me, just trying to understand the word that is both craved and feared — keep going. It means you’re leading with your heart. And that, right there, is the beginning of transformation.
Love,
